Mecon Water Saver - FAQ

What is a Mecon Water Saver?
A Mecon Water Saver is a Retrofit Variable Flush Mechanism developed to Save Water and reduce Water Bills. The device can be DIY fitted in a toilet cistern in less than 5 minutes. Your existing toilet can be very cost effectively converted from a single flush to a variable flush toilet putting you in control of water usage.

How is the Mecon Water Saver fitted?
The device is simply fitted by lifting the lid of the cistern, drilling a small hole in the siphon and fitting the unit. No plumbing is required. Not even the water has to be turned off. Fitted in less than 5 minutes.

Why install a Mecon Water Saver?
Reduce water usage in your toilet by 50% (20% of household water) and save money.

Is there a connection between water usage and energy usage?
Yes. The Carbon Foot Print (amount of CO2 produced) to supply water and treat waste water for the average household is the same as the Carbon Foot Print to heat that household.

How is the Mecon Water Saver used?
When the toilet is flushed, the user simply presses a button to stop the flush when the toilet bowl is cleared.

What is the life of a Mecon Water Saver?
The product was independently tested by WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme). WRAS test and approve products used in the water industry. Products used by the water companies and government agencies must have WRAS approval. The Mecon Water Saver was tested to 200 000 cycles which is approximately the amount of times a toilet would be used in 50 years.

What Maintenance is required with the Mecon Water Saver?
There is no maintenance required, no bills, no refills, no cartridges etc. to be fitted during the life of the unit. The Mecon Water Saver is an Environmentally Friendly Product.

How can the Mecon Water Saver Solve Water Demand Management Problems?
Independent trials have proven that a Retrofit Variable Flush Mechanism saves on average 8.5% of household water. The cost of fitting these devices compares favourably with the cost of developing new water resources. Capital investment can also be deferred.

How can the Mecon Water Saver reduce the Carbon Footprint and Save Energy?
Supplying water and treating waste water requires considerable amounts of energy.
